OK so you’ve read the hyperbole on Vol 1 so you must know that James Brown "Soul Classics Volume 2" is more of the same knee-jerking, hip-saying, dedicated raw funk and soul that the hardest working man in showbiz is renowned for. We’re talkin’ such mega classics as “Get On The Good Foot” (No.1 RnB, No.18 Pop US), “I Got Ants In My Pants” (No.4 RnB, No.27 Pop US), “Honky Tonk” (No.7 RnB, No.44 Pop US) and “Think” (No.7 RnB, No.33 Pop US). There’s tons of contemporary funk here - classics like “Talking Loud And Saying Nothing” (No.1 RnB, No.27 Pop US), “I Got A Bag Of My Own” (No.3 RnB, No.44 Pop US) and the tremendous “Hey America”. Also let’s not forget the romantic side of James with his brilliant duet with Lyn Collins – “What My Baby Needs Now Is A Little More Lovin’”. Plus there’s a whole heap of songs about popcorn like “Mother Popcorn (No.1 RnB, No.11 Pop US) and “Let A Man Come In And Do The Popcorn” (No.2 RnB, No.21 Pop US) plus a decent song about Heroin – “King Heroin” (No.6 RnB, No.40 Pop US). Phew, what more could you possibly want? All this comes on superior 180 gram double vinyl as per all the albums in the RnB series so don’t even think about hesitating!
