There could not be a more accurate title for this record. Three Country Music Hall of Famers doing old-time country music - the kind only a very few still know how to play. Willie Nelson, 73, Merle Haggard, 69 and Ray Price, 81 are longtime friends, but they had never before all appeared on the same record. For Last of the Breed they shied away from doing their own hits and instead turned in a collection of country standards and a few new originals that sound as vintage as the oldies. As if that's not enough, Kris Kristofferson and Vince Gill join the trio with a special guest appearance. This is pure, old-style country music - the real country.
